We Love Our Friends!
The Friends of the Tuftonboro Free Library support library services and resources in many ways:
Books Honoring Newborns
The Friends purchase a new children's book in honor of each child born in Tuftonboro during the previous year.  A bookplate commemorating the child's birthday is placed in the book, and a special spine label makes the book easy to pick out on the shelf.  The parents receive a letter notifying them of this gift, and enclosing the child's first library card.
Free Passes
The Friends fund free and reduced-price passes to many local and regional museums and other attraction.  You can check these out with your library card.  This is a wonderful resource for houseguests (especially grandchildren!).   For a complete list, click on  Museum Passes

Annual Meeting, Program, & Lunch
The Friends sponsor a free public program each year in early autumn, in conjunction with their Annual Meeting.  FOL programs feature a New Hampshire author or entertainer or expert in some facet of NH life.  Program and lunch are free and open to the public.  Find more information on the homepage of this website, and the TFL Facebook page.
Christmas Tree Lighting, Carol Sing, Polar Express
The Friends host an annual Tuftonboro family tradition.  We light the library tree and sing some carols, then head inside for hot chocolate and cookies, and settle down for the dramatic retelling of the holiday classic, The Polar Express.  Every child receives "the first gift of Christmas."
 Special Purchases
Since 2000, the Friends have purchased a photocopy machine for staff and patron use, microwave oven, digital camera, refrigerator, shelving, air conditioner, DVD racks, folding craft and meeting tables, a Nintendo Wiithis Web site, and two netbooks and four computers for patrons!

To join the Friends, please pick up a membership application at the Library, and leave the completed form and payment with us to pass along to the Friends.
